What Is a Bulk Bin?
An Apex bulk bin is a heavy-duty steel container built to the customer’s specifications for storing and transporting bulk material by crane or forklift. Standard bins are fabricated from 3/16" steel with a 2" x 2" x 3/16" angle around the top edge, and come with 2½" x 7" fork pockets as standard. Every bin ships painted bright yellow, though other paint colors are available on request.
Standard bulk bin sizes run ¾ yard, 1 yard, 1½ yard and 2 yard. A roll-over (rotator) version is also available with standard fabrication, so the bin itself tips to empty instead of relying on a separate release mechanism.
What Is a Self-Dumping Hopper?
An Apex self-dumping hopper is built for the same kind of bulk material — scrap steel, glass, sawdust, rubber, coal, ash, aggregates, construction debris and more — but it empties itself. Sizes run from ¼ cubic yard up to 5 cubic yards, with capacities up to 8,000 lbs on the heavy-duty line. Instead of tipping the whole container, an operator trips the hopper’s E-Z Release handle and the reinforced Solid Plate Rocker design swings the front open to dump the load, then resets for the next cycle.
